The CFM56 Engine
The CFM56 engine has been on some of the more successful aircraft programs ever manufactured. Two of the current production versions (-5B and -7B) power the leading narrow body platforms from both Airbus and Boeing. Initially produced in the mid-1970’s, the CFM56 has undergone several updates and developments over the years and remained an industry leading powerplant. In excess of 30,000 CFM56’s (all variants) have been built over the last 45 years.
